The height of one of downtown Vancouver’s most anticipated new towers has been slightly reduced, and the top of the tower sculpted.

601 Beach Crescent will still be taller than its neighbour, Vancouver House, but the tower height has been reduced to 159 metres, from 163 metres. Two floors have been lost, and the tower will now have 53 storeys. The podium will be eight storeys at its tallest portion.

The tower is designed as a gateway to downtown Vancouver, with the form inspired by a dancer, flowing dynamically from top to bottom. The architects are JYOM Architecture and GBL Architects.

The development, by Pinnacle International, will consist of:

  • 303 market condominiums
  • 152 social housing units
  • 29,288 square feet of ground-floor commercial space
  • 453 parking spaces and 911 bicycle spaces

The development permit is before the Development Permit Board and is expected to be approved soon.
