One suspect was caught by a police dog, while two are still missing after brazen failed smash and grab
West Vancouver police are searching for two suspects who drove a stolen truck into a Horseshoe Bay store in a failed smash-and-grab early Monday.
WVPD spokeswoman Const. Nicole Braithwaite said police received multiple calls from residents reporting a truck had been driven into The Bay’s Convenience store in the 6600-block of Royal Avenue just before 2 a.m. The truck was stolen from Vancouver, Braithwaite said.
“Suspects were seen fleeing the area on foot after attempts to drive the vehicle out of the building failed,” she said.
Police from West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Vancouver set up a containment of the area and called in dog units from the Vancouver police and the RCMP. One suspect was caught by a police dog, while two are still missing.
“The individuals caused extensive damage to both public and private property. We are lucky that no one was injured,” Braithwaite said.
The investigation is continuing, however police believe the thieves may have been targeting Canada Post parcels inside the store.
