Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at a Metro Vancouver glass manufacturer after 44 employees tested positive for the virus.
The outbreak at Vitrum Glass, which is located at 9785 201 Street in Langley, was declared on March 13.
To help prevent the virus from spreading further within the facility, Fraser Health has begun administering COVID-19 vaccines on-site.
The health authority said it is taking an “aggressive” approach to managing clusters and outbreaks at high-risk work settings in its jurisdiction.
“We are using a number of different means to manage COVID-19 outbreaks, such as immunization for cluster and outbreak control,” Fraser Health said.
“We are confident that this will help us protect our communities as well as those workplaces.”
The health authority is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed, and is conducting case and contact management on an ongoing basis.
As well, it is working with the facility to strengthen its COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
“It is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones,” Fraser Health said.
“Please don’t wait.”
