gujarat-based architecture firm manoj patel design studio introduces a new sculptural furniture series, built with clay roof tiles. the studio transforms existing profiles of numerous clay tiles into playful optical illusions that resemble natural volumetric masses, to form outdoor chairs and benches set against the rustic surroundings of india.

following a modernized approach, manoj patel design studio creates a connection between the old vernacular material and the regional surroundings. the designers alter the conventional use of the tiles, to produce an art-like furniture collection that displays a variety of combinations and orientations. in this way, the studio’s sustainable initiative translates into interesting patterns forming shadow play.
as finishing details, the junctions are treated into continuity tο form the seat. the collection showcases an earthy tone, combined with hand-crafted details. the sculptural modules can be easily adapted and placed in a variety of exterior settings, where users can enjoy the outdoors and engage in group conversations.
