Nick Nurse and five other members of the Toronto Raptors coaching staff will miss tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets in Tampa.

The Raptors have announced that the six coaches won’t be on the bench due to “health and safety protocols,” which have been implemented this season due to COVID-19.

Players, coaches, and staff can be put into protocol for a number of reasons (such as being deemed a close contact to someone testing positive), so this doesn’t necessarily mean that all or any of the coaches have COVID-19.

The coaching staff will continue to work remotely, the Raptors announced, with further details being “communicated when appropriate.” Raptors GM Bobby Webster is scheduled to speak to the media at 5:45 pm ET/2:45 pm PT, when we should find out more information.

Just who will coach the team tonight is still unclear. They could call up coaches from their G League team, though Raptors 905 have a game tonight as well. Another option is having someone from management fill in, like Masai Ujiri or Webster.
