A 17-year-old girl is listed in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in North Vancouver on Monday.
The girl, whose name wasn’t released, was found unconscious and seriously injured around 10:15 p.m. near Keith Road East and St. Andrews Avenue.
North Van RCMP say she was the victim of a hit-and-run collision.
Police have made an arrest and have seized a vehicle, but they’re still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
“Although we have made an arrest, it’s very important that we continue our efforts to gather all available evidence,” said North Van RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter DeVries. “We are looking for witnesses from two separate areas who may have seen or heard a white, newer-model vehicle in the area or on neighbouring streets.”
Anyone near Keith Road East, between Ridgeway Avenue and St. George’s Avenue, who saw or heard the collision — along with anyone who witnessed the suspect vehicle travelling near Lynn Valley Centre — at around 10:15 p.m. on Monday is asked to contact police at 604-985-1311.
“Our greatest concern is for the health of this young woman,” DeVries said. “We have the investigation well-in-hand. The focus for everyone else right now should be on her recovery.”
